This post is kind of related to the one I told y’all to be grateful for having your loved ones with you while they’re still alive.
But the point is: when it comes to family, not all of us remain good relationships with our relatives. Should we really maintain those relationships? Ain’t it a learned behavior that we should keep in touch with them even if we don’t want to?
I write this from the perspective of someone who’s got a rather uncommon family and that doesn’t get along with most¹ my relatives. As I said on that previous post, we’ve never been taught how to love one another as a family.
Maybe because of that, I don’t really see a point on forgiving the mistakes they’ve done. In fact, I don’t even like them. To my mind, there’s no need to scold me for this.
For example, I can’t even hear my uncle’s (actually, my mother’s brother’s) and my oldest² sister’s voices. Although this isn’t a post to read them to filth, I still want to expose them, so I can explain my point of view.
My uncle’s always been rude as hell to us all. He’s never pretended he likes us, even after having a heart attack, when he kept spreading hate to all of us, specially my mother, who helped him the most. Is that expected for me not to hate him back? I’m sorry, but that ain’t gonna happen. It doesn’t make sense to me that I should forgive and forget his actions just because he’s a relative of mine.
My sister’s is as bad as him. She’s a c-nt. She’s always been openly homophobic³. Plus, whenever we have an argument, she throws the times she lended me money in my face. Her actions caused me trauma to the point I’ve got really problematic feelings towards mixing money and friendship.
They’re both adults who understand the consequences of their actions. If they did know what those actions could result in and still wanted to go ahead, then they were the ones who tried first to weaken our family ties. No need for me to keep them in my life anymore. You ought to get rid of this conception as well.
